WHY I SHOULD CHOOSE LOADMASTER

Loadmaster - A superior, innovative roof deck designed to withstand extreme stress.

The Mission to Develop a Better Roof Deck

Stress from extreme weather and exposure is on the increase. If you want a building to last your roof requires a strong roof deck system that can withstand the extra stress load. Loadmaster has designed a roof deck that is engineered to achieve an unparalleled level of surface support, meet the International Builders Code (IBC) requirements, and provide protection much longer than previous roof deck systems.

Loadmaster - An innovator in roof deck technology

Our mission to create a roof that would exceed the expectations of building owners began in 1969, when the Loadmaster engineering team identified significant improvements in materials used in roof deck construction. Throughout our research phase, design and manufacturing, and thorough testing, our team developed a stronger, longer-lasting roof deck solution. Today, its components meet the requirements of building codes and exceed the performance life expectancies of the building owner!

After over fifty years of business, Loadmaster has installed roof decks totalling 500 million sq. ft., topping over 10k buildings across the USA. Our team has continued to operate with the same guiding principles of employing innovative design and sound manufacturing processes to create stronger, longer lasting roof decks.

Loadmaster currently holds 13 registered U S patents on roof deck assembly components.

Using our patented components, our roof deck assemblies have proven to extend a roof covering’s operational life far beyond its predicted timespan, sometimes even doubling it! Our longest recorded roof deck, a 15-year specification roof covering in the 30+ year category, provided 36 years of service and was only finished when it experienced damage during a severe hail storm. This saved the building owner $800K dollars in recover and replacement costs!

LOW SLOPED ROOFS

EXAMPLE 1:  A 15-year built-up roof covering installed over a 70K sq. ft. Loadmaster Basic Assembly outside San Antonio, TX performed for 36 years, saving building owners over $800K in reroofing costs. Its life was finally terminated during a major hail storm.

EXAMPLE 2:  A multi-building manufacturing site in Plano, TX installed a Loadmaster Insulated Assembly and a 3-ply BUR. It lasted 30+ years saving tens of thousands of dollars in reroofing costs. At the end of its life, an inexpensive recover was installed in lieu of an expensive tear-off and replacement roof covering, saving even more money for the building owner.

EXAMPLE 3:  When Modified Bitumen (Mod Bit) roof coverings entered the US market in 1986, six Loadmaster building installations in Kansas were roofed using the new Mod Bit technology. Advertised to last 20 years, four of the installations exceeded that prediction, lasting 30+ years. This saved the building owners hundreds of thousands of dollars in reroofing costs.

  • Note 1:  Using white granules to create the finish on Mod Bits is a major improvement to the membrane. Its white finish is expected to add several additional years to the 30+ year old finish, resulting in a long-term, trouble-free performance life from the Loadmaster Roof Deck.

  • Note 2: Single Ply roof coverings are making substantial changes to their thickness and reinforcements, but because they are fully adhered to a Loadmaster Roof Deck, where all terminations and roof curbs are specially designed using our patented galvanized steel components instead of wood, our roof decks provide exceptional long-term performance. Loadmaster backs this claim up by matching the warranty term of roof coverings furnished and warrantied by Carlisle, JM, GAF or Sarnafil for their single ply installations over a Loadmaster Roof Deck.

STEEP SLOPED ROOFS

Standing seam, shingles, tile and slate are the most widely used steep sloped roof coverings. When paired with a Loadmaster Roof Deck, these roof coverings experience a reduced need for repairs and replacements compared to wood decks.

When these roof coverings are insulated and combined with a roof deck constructed of wood, a material with a 19% moisture content, problematic swelling and shrinking can occur. The only solution to mitigate that issue when using an insulated wood roof deck is the installation of a costly ventilation chamber placed under the roof deck and above the insulation to provide air flow from the eave to the outside ridge. Even with this deterrent, repairs and replacements are needed at a higher rate than a Loadmaster Roof Deck constructed of galvanized steel components.

A Loadmaster Nailable Roof Deck Contains No Wood

Loadmaster is the preferred roof deck for asphalt shingle roofs when roof insulation in the assembly is part of the building's sloped roof design.

Loadmaster will take your roof deck into the future, likely without the need for repairs and replacements due to moisture when installed over our stable steel section structures. Our patented Loadmaster Terminator galvanized steel terminations and transitions remain fixed, preventing any avenues for moisture to enter the roof assembly. Expansion joint provisions create strong, stable connections that can adjust to slight changes in temperature without compromising the overall roof deck assembly. When properly installed by a trained Loadmaster Dealer, our Terminator Details will provide many years of trouble free service that will last the life of the building.
